- A record label is responsible for the managment and production of music artists, its main function is to provide a studio for the artist to record their music and also to be responsible for the distribution of the music.
- Record Labels also manage the finances of the band, making sure that the band has enough money in order to buy equipment and pay for the running costs of the artist.
- Overall a record label should be recognised as a business, and the main concern of any record label is to make money. This is why so many bands will originally be on a very low payrole in order for the record label to tell whether or not the band is good enough to make money.
